Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2016-2025, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2014

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens ‘11 has a lively bouquet with crisp Morello cherry, wild strawberry and mineral scents on the nose that gains vigor with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy tannins. There is an impressive weight here, plenty of extraction while maintaining focus and detail, although it needs another two or three years in bottle to develop more personality.

Medium red. Aromas of plum, cherry, tobacco, iron and licorice, with leather and rose petal nuances emerging in the glass. At once supple and juicy, showing good floral lift to the flavors of redcurrant, cranberry and spices. A bit lean for this bottling chez Faiveley but offers lovely cut and a light touch.

Dense and lively. A little bit of oak in evidence but lots of dense fruit too. Set for the very long term! (JR)

Good bright, full red. Medicinal red cherry, rose petal and licorice on the pure but reticent nose. Deep, sappy and spicy in the mouth, displaying excellent lift for the vintage. Finishes with terrific saline breadth and suave tannins. This very rich and sophisticated Rugiens will need time in bottle.
