Punteggio 90/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2005
Ruby-red, a bit less saturated than the Pezerolles. Very ripe but subdued aromas of licorice, iron, spices and nutty oak. Big and broad but not yet filled in; brooding flavors of black fruits, tar and licorice, with substantial minerality contributing shape and spine. Best today on the sweet, generous back half, where the big but ripe tannins are nicely supported by the wine's sheer material. This has surprising early appeal.
