Good deep red with ruby highlights. Musky dark fruits, meat and leather on the nose, complicated by a sweet floral element. A supple, sweet midweight with an insidious floral quality to its intense red berry and bitter cherry flavors. Finishes with big, broad, dusty tannins and tangy, lingering fruit. Very aromatic and sexy Rugiens.

(just racked) Deep ruby-red. Superripe aromas of raspberry, redcurrant and minerals; distinct suggestions of surmaturite Fat and creamy in the mouth, but the mouthfilling red fruit flavors are not at all overly sweet, and there's plenty of ripe acidity keeping the wine fresh. Dense, thick, palate-saturating wine with the stuffing to support its big, late-arriving tannins. This vineyard, planted on white marl soil, was picked a week later than virtually all of Potel's other wines on the Cote de Beaune. And the pH was still under 3.4, according to Potel.
