A blend of 84% Semillon and 16% Sauvignon Blanc, this wine displays oodles of figs, melon, crushed rock, white flowers and grapefruit. Its excellent texture, medium to full body make for a beautiful example of dry white Graves. Anticipated maturity: now-2025.
This is the blend of offcuts from the white grands vins from both La Mission and Haut-Brion that was once known as Les Plantiers. It contains lots of Sémillon because they decided to put lots of Sauvignon Blanc into Haut-Brion Blanc. Very rich and lanolin-like on the nose. Lots of sweetness and pleasure for quite early drinking. Lovely stuff! But too rich to drink without food, I should think. Spicy, almost fat. But just kept in check. Just fades a little on the finish. (JR)
