50% Merlot, 50% Cabernet Franc. Merlot harvested 2-3 October, Cabernet Franc harvested 5, 9-11, 14-17 October. Magnum. Fully mature dark ruby. Less intense nose than the 1997 and more evolved. Very sweet and more obviously ripe, even overripe, fruit than the 1997. But it finishes lively and the tannins are just slightly drying. (JR)

Magnum. Lighter than 1998. Bit simple and sweet. Can't see the real class of the 1999 Tenuta di Trinoro. Lots of acidity. Not a whole. Weight plus acid for the moment. Slightly raw. Jagged finish too. (JR)
The 1999 Palazzi (800 cases of a blend of 50% Cabernet Franc and 50% Merlot) boasts a dense ruby/purple color in addition to a complex nose of currants, cigar box, plums, and cherry liqueur with a hint of toasty oak in the background. Full-bodied, elegant, and complex, with a savory mid-palate and sweet tannin, it will drink beautifully for 12-14 years. This wine, in the style of Franchetti's friends, Peter Sissick and Jean-Luc Thunevin, was not fined, filtered, or stablized, and essentially represents the most honest/authentic essence of their vineyard.
