Deep dark fruits, edge of brett, beautiful floral notes, fresh acidities that keep things powering along, enticing tobacco and cigar box aromatics, this is enjoyable, with appellation signature and still delivering please. 80% new oak.

Dark crimson. Lots of development. Rich and a little brutal compared with Pichon Lalande. Every sinew is strained but the result is perhaps not quite as beguiling. Very dry tannins despite all the evolution apparent at the rim. (JR)
Healthy crimson. Solid, earthbound twin of the soaring Pichon-Longueville-Comtesse-de-Lalande. Round and easy and just a little lacking tension. Perfectly sound drink, just not exceptional. Stolid. (JR)
