1996 Meursault Les Perrieres

The Meursault Perrieres, produced from 14 year old vines, has attractive mineral aromas, and a medium-bodied, spicy, flinty, and racy personality. It lacks the depth, concentration, complexity, intensity, and, for lack of a better word, interest, I expect from this top flight premier cru vineyard. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2004. 1996 is an outstanding year for white Burgundies, and Domaine Michelot owns large parcels of some of Meursault's finest vineyards, yet none of the wines I tasted were worthy of an outstanding rating.
