I loved the 2009 Château Valandraud Virginie De Valandraud. This elegant, perfumed wine is still youthful and lively, with lots of redcurrants, cherries, cedar pencil, and sappy flower-like aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, with good elegance and purity, it has fine tannins and a spine of acidity that's going to allow it to evolve for another decade.

Dramatic and lively and refreshing! A wine you'd really want to drink. Complete and luscious without being heavy. I almost gave this 17 but it's not very concentrated. (JR)
Good deep ruby-red. Musky aromas of chocolate, coffee and sexy oak. Supple and moderately deep, with good lift to the plum, mocha and floral flavors. Finishes with enticing lingering sweetness.

One of the first garage wines, Ch. Valandraud was created by Jean-Luc Thunevin – Saint-Emilion’s “bad boy”. Today the style of the wine is much more restrained, and officially classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé B estate.
