2008 Meursault Goutte d'Or

(just fined) The reticent nose shows a hint of musky, spicy reduction. Spicy, fresh and sharply delineated, with an almost minty quality combining with minerality to give the wine energy and a light touch. Lovely persistent, energetic finish. These vines are now 20 years old and are getting better each year, notes Lafon.

This had been racked in July so was a little more advanced than the wines above. The nose was certainly luscious and very appealing. There was a real scrunch of ripe fruit with marked acidity and even a little heat on the finish. (JR)

(tasted from a new barrel) Pale yellow. Musky aromas of yellow peach and spicy oak. Powerful, tactile and fruit-driven, and less phenolic than the Clos de la Barre. I like the integration of oak here. Finishes with terrific persistence and lift.
