Punteggio 85/100 · Da bere 2014-2019, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2014

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Beaune 1er Cru Grèves 2011 has quite a demonstrative bouquet with dark berry fruit, black cherries, mulberry and then later, hints of marmalade and orange rind. The palate is sweet and rounded on the entry, a little sinewy in the mouth with good acidity, however it is missing some finesse and precision towards the slightly over-egged and oaky finish.

Bright full red. Aromas of redcurrant and iron complicated by leather and game. Offers good density and a peppery accent to its ripe flavors of cherry, redcurrant and spices. The ripely tannic finish shows good texture and length.

(from five-year-old vines; like the Clos de Mazeray, this was bottled in early April): Good pale yellow. Pure aromas and flavors of peach flesh and spices. Shows moderate depth but bright acidity and a stony underpinning give this wine good cut. Domaine Prieur is now using DIAM 10 corks to bottle this wine and the Clos de Mazeray, as well as its 375-milliliter bottles.

Good bright dark red. Black cherry, spices and minerals on the nose, lifted by a violet note. Juicy, firm and tightly wound, with dark berry and black cherry flavors supported by a firm tannic spine. A savory wine with no easy sweetness, but boasts a nice balance of fruit and minerality and displays solid structure for the year.
