Note di degustazione
The 2006 Chianti Classico Riserva Monna Lisa is a deep and brooding wine and boasts a compelling, yet mature bouquet of crushed rosemary, dried cherries, menthol, lavender, and sappy earth. The palate is fleshy and full, though it retains good freshness, with its more noble structure still holding on with good balance. It’s a very appealing and ripe style to drink over the next 5-6 years.

The 2006 Chianti Classico Riserva Castello di Monna Lisa is a big, dramatic wine bursting with sweet black cherries, licorice, menthol and sweet scents of French oak. This is a fairly rich, structured style of Chianti. As good as the Monna Lisa is, I had a slight preference for some of the lesser-oaked wines, as the wood tannins add a touch of astringency.

Mulch on the nose. A bit too polished perhaps in terms of ripeness but certainly very well mannered. (JR)
