Medium to full-bodied, deep and rich, the 2002 Beaune Clos des Coucheraux exhibits dark, stony, black cherry, strawberry, talcum powder, and perfume aromas. Thick, ample, and concentrated, it releases sweet waves of earth-tinged dark fruits on the taster’s palate. Its finish is firm, with copious quantities of tannin that will necessitate some patience. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2013. Importer: Kobrand, Inc., New York, NY; tel. (212) 490-9300

Full ruby-red. Black cherry, licorice, white pepper, stones and a tarry note on the nose. Bright, minerally and tightly wound; on the lean side and rather folded in on itself but juicy and firm. Finishes solidly tannic, with a suggestion of soil.
Not especially dark. Very fragrant and well delineated. Lovely balance of fruit, dryness and tannin. This one dances on the palate. With this structure it could only be red burgundy. Long. Great value. (JR)

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
