Note di degustazione
Pretty hot summer was followed by a rainy September that causes some disease pressure. Dark ruby. Charred note on the nose with some strong mineral notes. Round and with well-managed tannins but at the moment a little fragile. Dusty tannins on the end. Pretty chewy with a bit of heat on the end. Rather diffuse. (JR)

Poggio Scalette’s 1998 Carbonaione is another of the smaller-scaled versions of this wine. This isn’t the most complex Carbonaione, but the wine has retained lovely freshness and purity in its dark fruit, menthol and spices. It is an excellent choice for near-term drinking. 91/Anticipated maturity: .
A brilliant 100% Sangiovese cuvee aged in both French and American oak for six months, this consistently well-made wine (3,300 cases) boasts a deep ruby color in addition to a sweet nose of black cherries, vanillin, minerals, and tobacco. Medium-bodied, fleshy, and well-balanced, with superb purity as well as overall harmony, this classy, concentrated red marries finesse with power. Drink it over the next 5-7 years.
