Outstanding, the dark plum/ruby-colored 1995 Brunello di Montalcino Ugolaia (660 cases) was fashioned from a 30-year old vineyard replanted with pre-phylloxera clones. It offers a seductive perfume of smoke, minerals, earth, jammy cherries and strawberries, Asian spices, and fruitcake. Once past the complex aromas, there is formidable fruit, full body, a sweet entry on the palate, and well-integrated tannin and acidity. It will drink beautifully for 10-12 years.
