Punteggio 89-91/100 · Jeb Dunnuck, May 2026

A juicy, pleasure-bent Francs-Côtes de Bordeaux, the 2025 Château Puygueraud is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc from yields of 32 hectoliters per hectare, raised in 30% new barrels with a small portion in foudre. Its deep purple hue is followed by an attractive bouquet of red and blue fruits, liquid violets, and peppery herbs. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, structured, and tannic, yet it still manages to stay nicely textured and balanced. This hit 14.3% alcohol and has a pH of 3.38.

The 2025 Puygueraud is fabulous. It offers a captivating mix of intense red-toned fruit and brisk, salivating acids that balance its natural intensity. Blood orange, cedar, mint and sweet pipe tobacco weave through. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, with the Franc very much in evidence in the wine's fruit profile, aromatic presence and structural feel. Superb. Tasted two times.
