The 2025 La Vieille Cure feels just a little reticent on the nose and, despite coaxing, refuses to unleash the fruit I was expecting. Maybe just muted on the day? The palate is medium-bodied with smooth tannins and there is more energy here. Fine acidity. Quite focused, with good tension on the finish, it does suggest that the aromatics were just "on stand-by" during my tasting.

Ripe black cherries, graphite, crushed stone, and smoky, tobacco-like nuances all define the 2025 Château La Vieille Cure, a deeper ruby-hued effort that brings a touch more density compared to the La Sacristie de la Cure cuvée. Based on 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 50% new oak, 30% once-used barrels, and the balance in foudre, it's medium-bodied on the palate, with a balanced, elegant mouthfeel and nicely integrated acidity. It's a pretty, focused, elegant wine that does well yet plays it safe in the vintage.
Medium- to full-bodied with chalky tannins, a delicate expression of dark fruit and violets, and a chalky finish. Great precision.
The 2025 La Vieille Cure is powerful and inky. There's plenty of fruit intensity, as always, but this needs more attention paid to the tannins, which are rather bruising at this stage.
