Punteggio 87-89/100 · Da bere 2028-2032, Neal Martin, May 2026

The 2025 Clos Marsalette was picked September 9 to 19 at 20 hl/ha. It has an upfront mulberry and blackcurrant-scented bouquet, with light gravelly scents, nicely defined. The palate is medium-bodied with quite sharp and edgy tannins. Black rather than red fruit, a little rustic in style, but there is plenty of freshness. It should flesh out during its barrel maturation.

A Cabernet-dominant blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, and 1% Cabernet Franc that's being raised in 25% new French oak, the 2025 Clos Marsalette sports a deep purple hue as well as a pretty nose of juicy black cherry and almost blue fruits with liquid violets, graphite, and leafy herbs. Checking in at 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.65 and yields of 20 hectoliters per hectare, it's medium-bodied on the palate, with a pure, focused mouthfeel, fine tannins, and nicely integrated acidity. It's a beautiful wine.

The 2025 Clos Marsalette is bold, juicy and super expressive right out of the gate. This is an especially forward, succulent style that offers tons of immediacy and sheer pleasure. Crushed rose petal, mint, blood orange and red-toned fruit race across the palate, buffered by brisk acids and sweet floral overtones that extend the effortless finish. Sure to be a crowd pleaser.

60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc. 20 hl/ha. Cask sample. Very much a Cabernet profile but on the leafy, vegetal side. Dark-fruit notes with a hint of mint and leaf. Fruity and lightly structured with fine sandy tannins. Early drinking. (JL)
