Punteggio 87-89/100 · Da bere 2029-2039, Neal Martin, May 2026

The 2025 Clos Lunelles was picked between September 17 and 20 at 22 hl/ha, containing more Cabernet Franc than usual, aged in 50% new oak. This has a plush nose with perfumed blackberry and blueberry fruit, hints of lavender and later a touch of aniseed. The palate is medium-bodied with plush tannins, quite fleshy, though there is some baked fruit in the middle that detracts from freshness and tension on the finish. Just a little heat on the finish. Hopefully it will gain more freshness during élevage.

Coming from limestone soils, the 2025 Clos Lunelles is just brilliant, with red and black fruits, a liquid rock-like minerality, spice, and flowery nuances on the nose. It has an incredibly pronounced limestone character that runs through every layer of the wine. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with ripe, chalky tannins and an almost salty character on the finish. I continue to think this is one of the greatest wines in the appellation.

The 2025 Clos Lunelles is a very sexy wine. Clay-limestone soils confer notable energy to play off a core of inky red/purplish fruit, mocha, pomegranate, new leather and exotic spice. There's a lot of wine here. Readers will have to be patient, though, as the 2025 packs a pretty serious punch. This should age quite nicely.

70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. 22 hl/ha. Cask sample. Deep purple-black hue. Dark fruit with a distinctive chalky freshness. Juicy but concentrated, the tannins firm and reinforced by the tension. Less oak than the past. Should age. (JL)
