The 2025 Branas Grand Poujeaux was picked September 10 to 22 at 30 hl/ha with 50% new oak, 10% amphorae and 40% in used barrels. This is very well defined on the nose with pure black cherries, raspberry and light cassis scents, becoming more floral as it unfurls in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple but firm tannins that lend backbone to this Moulis-en-Médoc. Vivacious and lightly spiced on the finish, this might be the most "complete" wine produced by Arjen Pen to date.

Checking in as a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 10% Petit Verdot that will spend 16 months on its fine lees in 50% new French oak barrels and amphora, the 2025 Château Branas Grand Poujeaux offers a beautiful mix of ripe red and black fruits, spicy wood, and dried flowers with some chocolaty nuances. On the palate, it's medium-bodied and focused, with a balanced, elegant mouthfeel and a great finish. It checks in at 13.5% alcohol.
The 2025 Branas Grand Poujeaux stains the palate with inky dark fruit, chocolate, new leather, gravel, herbs and lavender. There's a ton of fruit intensity. The tannins are a bit forbidding today. Hopefully élevage can take care of that. Tasted two times.
