Punteggio 86-88/100 · Da bere 2030-2042, Neal Martin, May 2026

The 2025 Bouscaut comes across a little smudged on the nose, with high-toned black cherry and cassis aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, with furry tannins and moderate depth, but it needs a little more tension and delineation on the off-dry finish. So-so.

A serious, rock-solid Pessac-Léognan, the 2025 Château Bouscaut shines with red plums, cassis, graphite, chocolate, and smoky nuances on the nose. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and focused, with ripe, firmer tannins and a great finish. It should easily be an outstanding wine, if not quite a bit more.

The 2025 Bouscaut is quite the powerhouse. It opens with a blast of dark fruit, scorched earth, tobacco, incense, iron and licorice. This potent, burly Pessac-Léognan delivers tons of impact and textural intensity. Clay-rich sols yield notable textural breadth. All this needs is time to soften. Tasted two times.

Evoking a somewhat earthy, introverted bouquet of spices, licorice and gentian mingled with mulberries, the 2025 Bouscaut is medium- to full-bodied, dense and structured, built around a solid chassis of youthful tannins. The palate remains firm but well composed, concluding with a long, delicately spicy finish. Despite its reserved character, it is well crafted and should age gracefully.
