Punteggio 94-96/100 · Da bere 2032-2055, Neal Martin, Vinous, May 2026

The 2025 Berliquet was picked September 3 to 17 and is aged in 38% new barrels and 23% amphora, which are being increased slightly each year. This has a very refined bouquet, lifted and quite floral, black cherry and blueberry, a little creaminess, in fact, quite Canon-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity on the entry. The limestone really comes through and underlies this Berliquet, almost like a white wine, as if someone crumbled it into the wine. That's terroir for you. It lends plenty of freshness and another layer of complexity on the finish. This is one of the best vintages of Berliquet that I have tasted from barrel.

A Merlot-led blend of 61% Merlot and 39% Cabernet Franc, the 2025 Château Berliquet is currently resting in 38% new barrels with 23% in amphora. The nose shows incredibly pure red and black fruits, chocolaty herbs, graphite, and classic Saint-Emilion minerality. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, pretty, pure, and elegant, with fine-grained tannins, moderate concentration, nicely integrated acidity, and a solid finish. It's pure, polished, and just flawlessly balanced. Checking in at 14% alcohol with a pH of 3.5, the 2025 might be the greatest Berliquet to date.

Flowers, black raspberries, cherries, and a hint of smoke get you focused on the wine. The palate is soft, polished, fresh, and juicy. There is the trademark taste of crushed rocks and stones, herbs, paired with sweetness, lift, length, and elegance that wraps up all the ripe plums and black raspberries from start to finish. The wine blends 61% Merlot, and 39% Cabernet Franc. 14% ABV. Yields 42 hectoliters per hectare. Harvest took place September 3 - September 17.

Well composed, textured and precise, with aromas of dark berries and stones. Medium-bodied with fine tannins. Driven and layered with a long, vivid finish.
