Punteggio 90-92/100 · Da bere 2031-2049, Neal Martin, May 2026

The 2025 Beaumont was cropped at just 25 hl/ha. It has a very lifted and perfumed, fruity nose that oddly reminds me of a low SO2 wine, and I don't mean that negatively (noted on second and third sample bottles). There is very attractive purity. The palate is medium-bodied with fine but firm tannins, well-judged acidity and a light patina of new oak that will be absorbed with time. Very "pencil box", almost Pauillac-like on the finish. A couple of years in bottle and you will have a fine Beaumont on your hands. Lovely length on the aftertaste too! Just 12.9% alcohol.

Checking in as a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and 4% Petit Verdot that's still resting in 30% new barrels, the 2025 Château Beaumont is a clear step up over the previous vintage in richness, texture, and depth. The nose shows lots of ripe darker red and almost blue fruits alongside classic tobacco and damp earth notes that take on an almost Saint-Estèphe-like character. On the palate, it's medium-bodied with ample mid-palate depth, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It checks in as 12.87% alcohol with a pH of 3.76. Tasted twice.

Some pretty fruit with currant and berry aromas. Medium-bodied with a slightly hollow center palate and polished tannins. A little short in the finish.

The 2025 Beaumont is a potent, burly Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois. Dark red-toned fruit, gravel, incense, dried herbs and incense are front and center. There's a bit of toughness in the tannins, but that's not too surprising at this level. This Haut-Médoc will be a fine companion at the dinner table, especially if enjoyed with similarly hearty fare.
