Punteggio 90-92/100 · Da bere 2030-2042, Neal Martin, May 2026

The 2025 Badette comes across as a little oaky on the nose, but it is proportionate with the fruit and feels very harmonious. The palate is medium-bodied with a very sweet opening, plush sorbet-fresh red fruit laced with blood orange and marmalade notes. Quite commercially minded in style, yet it retains balance and once it soaks up that oak, it should drink well for several years.

A Merlot-heavy blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot that will spend 18 months in 60% new French oak, the 2025 Château Badette has absolutely gorgeous aromatics of ripe black cherries, currants, smoky tobacco, graphite, and chocolate. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with a concentrated, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and beautifully integrated acidity, hitting 14.5% alcohol. It's a sexy, pleasure-bent, impeccably made effort that should be snatched up by readers.

Very subtle and refined, with a medium body, integrated tannins and a long and persistent finish. Lovely depth of fruit. A lot gong on.

The 2025 Badette is laced with crème de cassis, chocolate, blackberry, licorice, dried herbs and lavender. A kiss of French oak works so well here. There's a touch of Petit Verdot, unusual in Saint-Émilion, which adds darkness and savory intensity.
