Punteggio 94/100 · James Suckling, Apr 2026

An excellent white with sliced lemon, green apple and honeysuckle aromas and flavors. It's medium- to full-bodied with bright acidity, a vivid finish and some stones and flint. 91% sauvignon blanc, 8% semillion and 1% sauvignon gris. Drink or hold.

The 2025 Alto de Cantenac Brown is a very pretty, crisp dry white to drink over the next handful of years. The approach clearly favors freshness and energy. Lemon peel, chalk, sage, mint and white pepper exalt brightness. Today, the 2025 feels a bit tight, but I also tasted it a week after it had been racked to tank. I won't be surprised if the bottled wine is a bit more generous in feel.

A blend of 91% Sauvignon Blanc, 8% Sémillon and 1% Sauvignon Gris, produced with yields of just 13 hectoliters per hecrtare, the 2025 Alto de Cantenac Brown reveals a well-integrated oak profile with aromas of white fruits, flowers and pear. Medium- to full-bodied, it combines tension with a measured sense of power, supported by lively and slightly firm acidity through the mid-palate. The finish is persistent and perfumed, marked by notes of pear. This is one of the most accomplished renditions produced at this address to date.
