Note di degustazione
The 2025 Maucaillou needed time to open in the glass, eventually revealing blackberry, raspberry, very faint licorice scents and a dab of iodine. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, impressive depth, fine acidity and quite a sustained, delineated finish. This is a very well crafted Moulis that should give a lot of pleasure once bottled.

A solid, nicely made wine, the 2025 Château Maucaillou is based on 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, and 9% Petit Verdot that's being raised 14 months in 30% new French oak. The nose reveals red and black fruits, smoky wood, graphite, and some chocolaty, herbal nuances. On the palate, it's medium-bodied and nicely textured, with quality tannins and good overall balance. It has outstanding potential.
Fresh and refined, with polished tannins and a precise nature. Itâs medium-bodied with a caressing finish. Harmonious for such a young wine.
The 2025 Maucaillou is an attractive, highly aromatic Moulis. Cedar, sweet pipe tobacco, dried herbs, incense, licorice and leather meld into a core of pliant, expansive fruit. This is an especially somber style, with forbidding tannins that will require a measure of patience.

Owned by the négociant Dourthe, this Moulis property has 87 hectares of vines today (with 67 added by Philippe Dourthe since 1967). Managed and made by an expert team, the quality here is hardly surprising.
