Punteggio 90-92/100 · William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2024

The 2022 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru delivers aromas of cherries, raspberries, licorice and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and seamless palate that's ample and charming but also a touch ephemeral.

Punteggio 90-92/100 · Da bere 2027-2040, Neal Martin, Vinous, Nov 2023

The 2022 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru comes from vines planted between 1982 and 2018 and is raised in 50% new oak. This has a perfumed bouquet with black cherry, wild strawberry, and light rose petal scents, and the terroir comes through more here than the Clos de Vougeot. The palate is very sweet on the entry, with a lot of sucrosity to the point where I wonder whether it might have been better to pick a little earlier. It’s quite seductive and very smooth, though just a bit heady on the finish. Probably best drunk between five and fifteen years.

Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, this domaine has a long history and impressive vineyards (with over five hectares of Grand Cru), but has long been considered an under-performer. Today, however, the Bouygues brothers (of Montrose and Clos Rougeard) have taken ownership and change is afoot.
