Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2025-2040, Jeb Dunnuck, Dec 2025

One of the standouts here, ranking with the crème de la crème of the vintage, the 2022 St. Eden comes from a cooler terroir and volcanic soils on a hillside just outside of Oakville. It's layered and concentrated, with ripe red and black fruits, medium to full-bodied richness, a pure, seamless mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and a great finish. With nicely integrated oak, ample mid-palate depth, and outstanding length, it's going to keep for 15+ years. Drink 2025-2040.

The 2022 St. Eden is quite the powerhouse. The tannins are especially potent today. That's something I did not see last year, when the wine was quite a bit more expressive than it is now. It will be interesting to see how the 2022 develops over the coming years. At this stage, it is quite the brute, and also a stylistic outlier relative to the other wines in this flight of 2022s.

Deep ruby with a hint of purple. Rich but cooling and minty with juicy Amarena cherry and a cedary spice. Every time I stick my nose in the glass, this wine changes. Like shaving-cream musk one second and cherry fruit and toasted wood the next. Lightly bitter with very fine tannin and gentle but building acidity. Very long with seamless oak integration. (SCJ)

The 2022 St. Eden is fabulous. A wine of soaring intensity and mid-palate juiciness, the 2022 is seriously impressive. Dark red cherry/plum fruit, spice, sweet lavender and dark chocolate infuse the palate with notable depth. The St. Eden is glorious and so promising today. That's pretty much all there is to it.
