Focused fruit and pretty ambitious with real drive and no shortage of tannin. Distinctive and interesting. (JR)

The 2023 Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard Dijon 115 Clone was fermented with around 60% whole clusters and matured in 20% new oak. It has slowly unfurling scents of rhubarb, blueberry, licorice and forest floor. The medium-bodied palate is high-toned with soaring floral character. It has a fine, chalky texture, vibrant acidity and a long finish with a flourish of spicy accents.
Darker ruby/magenta in color, the 2023 Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard Dijon 115 Clone is full of black raspberry, darker cherry liqueur, nutmeg, warming spice, pristine leather, and fresh herbs. It fills the palate with zesty spice and ripe, well-defined tannins, and compelling hints of iodine and rich black cherry fruit follow through. This is a relatively full-bodied red with a sappy texture and saturating richness through a long finish. Drink over the next 20 or so years.
The 2023 Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard Dijon 115 Clone opens with a collage of wildflowers, lavender and cedar spice. It is round with a nervous feel as tart red berry fruits and mineral tones mingle over a core of zesty acidity. The 2023 caresses the palate with a chalk sensation offset by a nuance of sour citrus as it finishes structured and with admirable length.
