Note di degustazione
The 2008 Reserve Shiraz gives a very deep garnet purple color and pronounced notes of warm black currant, crushed blueberries, mocha, licorice, bark and a bit of pepper. Crisp and very tight in the mouth, the tannins are still quite firm yet wonderfully fine and ripe lending a good backbone to the rich, opulent fruit. The finish is very long. Give this beauty another year or two to open and soften and consider drinking it 2012 through 2020. Charles Cimicky and his father purchased their Barossa valley property in 1972. At that time it was completely replanted and, upon discovering that some of their initial variety and site combinations were not working, Charles grubbed up and replanted some of the blocks in 2003. Most of the fruit for the wines is estate grown (100% for the top wines) with some purchased fruit from growers. Charles informed me that 2008 turned out to be an excellent vintage for him since he had brought in all his fruit prior to the heat-wave that hit in March that year.
