From a great year for Rutherford, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon sports a deep purple hue as well as a Pauillac-like nose of darker currants, blue fruits, sappy tobacco, and spring flowers. It's medium to full-bodied, has an incredibly pure, layered, multi-dimensional mouthfeel, polished tannins, and outstanding length. It's an absolutely classic wine from this estate that reminds me slightly of the 2013 (or 2016?), yet perhaps with a touch more elegance. Hide bottles for 4-5 years, count yourself lucky, and enjoy over the following two decades. Drink 2030-2050.

A barrel sample of Greer's 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon—a blend of three clones from the three-acre vineyard off Manley Lane—looks back in top form. Dark cherry fruit and vanilla shadings mark the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate appears even more extracted and richer than the 2022; it's really packed with ripe, soft tannins and possesses tremendous length on the finish.
