Currants, plums, tobacco, leather, and scorched earth nuances all emerge from the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Dark Ark, another rich, powerful, structured wine. A selection from the Ark Vineyard with the goal of making a darker, richer wine, I’d say they succeed admirably. This brings serious fruit and structure while remaining beautifully balanced. Give it 3-4 years and enjoy over the following two decades.

Jayson Woodbridge commented that the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Dark Ark is “the stealth fighter of wines—a brooding monster.” Deep garnet-black, notions of molten licorice, tar, menthol and dark chocolate slowly emerge, before breaking out to reveal a core of blueberry compote, crème de cassis and blackberry pie, with hints of black truffles and wet pebbles. The full-bodied palate is built like a brick house, featuring firm, grainy tannins and a bold line of freshness to support the taut, muscular fruit, finishing long and layered.
