Good red-ruby. Vibrant aromas of black fruits, violet, licorice pastille and spices. More penetrating in the mouth than the Charmes, with excellent acidity giving the black fruit and spice flavors a penetrating quality. This is silky and seamless but also projects impressive energy. Finishes smooth and very long. Not a particularly fleshy style of 2007, but this should put on weight over the next seven or eight years.
Bright red-ruby. High-pitched nose offers black cherry, minerals, menthol and violet; much blacker in character than the Charmes. The purple fruits and spices are impressively penetrating in the mouth, but this very dense wine also offers an enveloping, seamless texture for all its power. Best today on the very long, subtle finish, which features fine-grained but serious tannins.
