1984 Domaine des Comtés Lafon Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru

Pale pink-gold. Inviting aromas of raspberry and subtle herbs. Juicy and penetrating if a bit hard-edged, with its stone fruit and red berry flavors energized by slightly spiky acidity. But this wine still offers an element of sweetness and finishes smooth and persistent, with no dryness. Not expansive (1984 was a vintage that mostly yielded lean, high-acid white Burgundies) but a very pleasant surprise at age 35. This wine seems to be in a state of suspended animation.
