The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru has a bright nose with vivid red fruit, hints of blueberry and violet developing in the glass. The oak is nicely integrated; however, upon returning after 10 minutes, to my surprise the wood seems to "jut out" and there is a scent of pine needles. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, well balanced, an easygoing Chambolle that is less extracted than its peers with a little more tension on the finish. In conclusion, I would just wait a few months for the aromatics to subsume the oak/whole cluster. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru, which contains 30% whole bunches, has a well-defined bouquet with black pepper and undergrowth scents permeating the dark berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a slight lactic/dark chocolate note on the entry from the wood. The stems lend more definition towards the finish that will require 3-4 years to fully harmonise. Very fine.
