Superb (but expensive) is the 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Vineyard. This vineyard, adjacent to Mondavi's To-Kalon Vineyard in Oakville, is the source of this offering. Black currant liqueur notes intermingled with licorice, chocolate, cedar, and tobacco emerge from this full-bodied, opaque purple-colored wine. Very concentrated, thick, with juicy, very expansive mid-palate and sweet tannin, this is a prodigious Cabernet Sauvignon that can be drunk now or cellared for 15-20+ years.
