The 1996 Shiraz Meschach is well-made with sweet fruit and medium body, but little complexity. It is fully mature and is not going anywhere, so drink it up. From one of my least favorite South Australia producers, these wines were straightforward, pleasant, above average commercial examples of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvedre blends.

Red-ruby. Big, oaky nose of cassis, crushed blackberry, mocha and vanilla. Silky and supple, but also juicy and penetrating, with firm acids and a faint green aspect. Quite oaky in the middle and on the firm finish. This wine showed increasing fat and texture as it opened in the glass.
