Perfumed red and black fruits, spring flowers, spice, and chocolate all shine from the 2023 Château Cap De Mourlin, the grand vin that brings notably more finesse and elegance than its second wine. Based on 85% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 30% new barrels, it's medium-bodied on the palate, with a pure, focused, seamless mouthfeel, solid mid-palate depth, and fine tannins. Impeccably made and a great drink, it will shine any time over the coming 15-20 years. Drink 2026-2045.

The 2023 Cap du Moulin has quite a high-toned nose with just a little warmth emanating from the alcohol at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with a sapid opening, ripe raspberry and mulberry notes, with a touch of hickory toward the finish. Not bad, though I would give it a year in bottle.
85% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. Cask sample. Red-fruit and vanilla aromas. Round and fruity but oak a little imposing. Chewy finish. Clumsy. Extraction pushed too far? (JL)
