The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Combe Aux Moines 1er Cru, which includes 5-10% whole bunch, still has a very mineral-driven bouquet with dark berry fruit laced with orange zest. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiselled tannins. A dash of white pepper and brown spice complement the black fruit that segues into more red fruit on the refined and persistent finish. This is definitely worth seeking out.

Produced from purchased fruit from a parcel Duroché farms, the 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Combe Aux Moines exhibits notes of dark berries, smoked meats and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate that is succulent and spicy, concluding with a discreetly carnal finish.
The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Combe Aux Moines 1er Cru is a worthy follow-up to the 2022. It's beautifully defined and quite mineral-driven, with transparency on the nose and red fruit tones mixed with orange rind. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, pliant tannins, a keen line of acidity and a little tobacco emerging toward the precise finish. This is lovely.
