Based on 87% Sauvignon Blanc, 12% Semillon, and 1% Sauvignon Gris and aged eight months in 49% neutral French oak, 32% concrete, 10% amphorae, and 9% new oak, the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc offers up a brilliant perfume of ripe melon, honeyed lemon, spice, and floral nuances. 87% Sauvignon Blanc, 12% Semillon, 1% Sauvignon Gris. Leslie's wife encouraged planting Sauvignon Blanc here. Vines over 25 years old on Sonoma volcanic soils at 1,600 ft of elevation. Aged for 8 months, 49% in neutral French oak, 32% in concrete tanks, 10% in amphorae and 9% in new oak. Decanting is advised for this unusually serious Sauvignon. Quite chewy at this stage! Much fresher than most Napa Sauvignons. Very green notes. Bone-dry finish. Still extremely youthful – even more so than the 2021 reds! (JR)
Full bottle 1,540 g. 87% Sauvignon Blanc, 12% Sémillon, 1% Sauvignon Gris. Aged 8 months in 49% neutral French oak, 32% concrete, 10% amphorae, 9% new oak. Medium lemon. Pure bliss! Rich lemon and chive-blossom nose with a creamy undertone. Layers of citrusy fruit and balanced oak incredibly well-integrated with the fruit. Bright, lemony acidity and a long finish. A shame to drink young. If you are going to splurge (and this is the Sauvignon Blanc to do it on), give it the love it deserves and cellar it for another couple years. (SCJ)
