Punteggio 16.5/20 · Da bere 2023-2026, Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, Jan 2023

Tank sample ready for bottling 13 January. Vines above the village, very cool, with cold wind. Hand-picked, chilled overnight, foot-crushed, basket-pressed. The juice was oxidised in tank for several hours and then racked to a 400-litre barrel with all of the solids for fermentation by indigenous yeasts. Aged on full lees, without stirring or racking, for 13 months before another three months in tank. Unfined, lightly filtered and bottled under Diam 10. 600 bottles only – around 3 hl instead of the usual 20 hl. Lovely leesy creamy richness, a hint of oatmeal on the nose and palate. Both citrus and green fruited. Delicately oaked. Lime-fruited freshness and purity, intense but so fresh. Perfect balance between rich lees and vibrant acidity. Long and mouth-watering. (JH)
