Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2027-2049, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Dec 2025

The top-shelf wine from Cantina Terlano is this blend of 62% Pinot Bianco, 35% Chardonnay and 3% Sauvignon Blanc. The 2022 Alto Adige Terlaner Grand Cuvée Primo (with 4,000 bottles released) is brilliant, and I mean that literally and figuratively. The quality of the aromas is enormously fine and lifted with layers of stone fruit, mountain flower, yellow rose, poached pear, pie crust and crushed stone. Fruit is drawn from many small terraces farmed by members of this celebrated co-op winery.

The 2022 Terlaner Cuvée I Primo is youthfully poised. Coaxing unlocks depths of crushed nectarine and pear under a veil of sweet spice, raw almonds and mint. It opens with a balanced inner sweetness and soothingly round textures as a vertically building mix of crisp orchard fruits, citrus and saline minerals saturates. This leaves the palate buzzing with salty concentration and residual acids while nuances of lemon curd and chamomile fade. Bury the 2022 in the cellar and reap the rewards.

Restrained wine with still toasty and straw-like aromas, together with an exquisite mix of yellow grapefruit and Mirabelles, balsamic and deep-set cedar. Full-bodied, tight and lightly phenolic, yet balanced by weight and silkiness. More gastronomic than usual and super savory. Drinkable now, but best from 2026.

62% Pinot Bianco (from vines of more than 50 years old), 35% Chardonnay, 3% Sauvignon fermented in 12-hl Stockinger casks and aged for 18 months on the lees. Pale golden straw. A hint of papaya, peach and subtle creamy breadcrumb notes and minerally iodine hints. Intense, yet light on its feet and with racy acidity that settles in the minerally, lemony and leesy finish. Hugely complex and long, but not ready yet. (WS)
