Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2028-2042, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Nov 2025

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Sorenson Vineyard emerges from the bottom section of Burgess' core vineyard on the slopes of Howell Mountain. Sumptuous black fruit, espresso, licorice, cloves and dried herbs make a strong first impression. In this tasting, the Sorenson comes across as slightly overripe, perhaps because of unusually low yields in old vineyards in an extremely hot year.

Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2027-2045, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Oct 2025

The flagship wine at Burgess, from the vineyard where the original winery stood, is the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Sorenson, named for Bill Sorenson, the former winemaker (for 41 years). Bottled after aging 30 months in 30% new French oak, if offers up mixed red and black cherries backed by lovely cedar undertones and luxurious hints of vanilla. It's medium- to full-bodied, nicely proportioned and structured, and while there's some plushness to the texture, it never goes overboard, retaining a sense of freshness and ripe tannins on the finish.
