Bright, dark red. Very ripe aromas of black cherry, black raspberry and licorice. Then juicy and tightly wound, with very fresh flavors of dark berries, violet, licorice and minerals. Finishes with a broad dusting of tannins and impressive persistence.

More than 50% whole bunch (His son Loic has some Evocelles vines that are higher than his father's). Rich, chestnutty, complex nose. Round and polished (so different from the Gevrey Vieilles Vignes!) Lots of juice there. Rewarding though still quite robust and full-on. (JR)
(from 75-year-old vines cropped at 22 hectoliters per hectare; vinified with 65% of the stems) Good deep red-ruby. Blackberry and blueberry dominate the nose. Concentrated and juicy in the mouth, with ripe acids framing the flavors of wild black fruits, elder blossom, spices and bitter chocolate. Not plush but boasts strong, enticing fruit.
