Note di degustazione
The 2023 Chardonnay Lorenzo Vineyard is just as impressive as it was when I tasted it from barrel. Rich, unctuous and oily, the 2023 is all class. Lemon confit, marzipan, dried herbs and tangerine oil are all amplified by 50-year-old vines on clay-rich soils. This is one of the great wines of the United States.

The 2023 Chardonnay Lorenzo Vineyard comes from vines planted in 1974. Grapes were harvested on October 5, and the wine was matured for 11 months in 30% new French oak barrels, followed by six months in tank. Initial wafts of matchstick and crème brûlée give way to white fruits, lime peel and alluring herbal undertones. The medium-bodied palate is silky and energetic with understated, flinty flavors and a long, tensile finish. It will benefit from several years in the cellar. 240 cases were made.
The 2023 Chardonnay Lorenzo Vineyard emerges from own-rooted vines planted in 1974. A striking wine, the 2023 gradually unfurls on the palate, revealing exceptional finesse and mind-blowing balance. Pear, white flowers, mint, white pepper and crushed rocks all build in the glass, leading towards the long, eternal finish. What a wine.
