The 2015 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru is a blend of parcels in Aux Murgers and Aux Vignerondes. It offers mulberry and blueberry on the nose, more generous than some of the other barrel samples that I tasted chez Gros, hints of cedar and undergrowth developing gradually in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with confit black fruit on the entry, quite effervescent with orange sorbet and even citric notes piercing the dark cherry and boysenberry fruit towards the finish. There is still some new oak to be subsumed, but this has a bright future, albeit after 4-5 years in bottle.
