Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2025-2032, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Aug 2025

The 2023 The Bohan-Dilon Pinot Noir is a blend of estate and purchased fruit and, with just 12.9% alcohol, is particularly easy to drink. It has a pale ruby color and alluring scents of raspberry, sour cherry, orange, licorice and bitters. The light-bodied palate offers crunchy, citrus-laced flavors. It’s framed by soft, chalky tannins and vibrant acidity and has a long finish laced with spice and floral perfume. 2,000 cases were made.

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2025-2035, Jeb Dunnuck, Jul 2025

The 2023 Pinot Noir The Bohan-Dillon pours a medium red color and is fresh and savory with aromatics of pine needles, cranberries, anise, orange zest, and fresh herbs. The only non-estate wine they produce, it’s sourced from roughly equal parts Hirsch Vineyard, Heintz Vineyard, and Helenthan Vineyard. Medium-bodied, it offers refreshing acidity, an even, silky texture, and a great finish revealing savory notes of salted citrus. Drink 2025-2035. The current releases from Jasmine Hirsch include a first look at her 2023s, as well as the release of the 2022 single vineyard wines, which she holds back an additional year. While 2022 falls broadly into the category of a warm vintage for Sonoma, she notes that despite this being categorized as a vintage noted for its heat, they did not experience any notable heat until September. It never got above 92 degrees at Hirsch in August, and they had picked 70% of the fruit by Labor Day. (The peak was 108 degrees over Labor Day weekend.) For her, the yields were the defining factor in the concentration and density of the 2022 vintage.

The 2023 Pinot Noir The Bohan-Dillon is a very pretty, understated offering from Hirsch. Silky tannins wrap around a core of bright red-toned fruit, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and dried herbs. This mid-weight Pinot is all charm. Those qualities are best enjoyed over the next handful of years.
