Crafted with 50% whole clusters, the 2022 Pinot Noir Abigail's Vineyard has a very elegant, coastal expression. It has a pale ruby color and alluring aromas of raspberry, pomegranate, blood orange, black tea leaves and spice. With just 12.5% alcohol, the light-bodied palate features understated, nuanced flavors. It’s framed by soft, silky tannins and vibrant acidity and has a long, layered finish.

Pouring a more transparent ruby color, the 2022 Pinot Noir Abigail's Vineyard is bright and refreshing and has a leaner feel, with fine tannins, notes of strawberry, cranberry, spices, dried earth, and red flowers, and a chalky texture. It’s even and has a lot of immediate charm, with a more savory spice lasting on the finish. Drink over the next 10 years. The 2022s from Ross Cobb are some of the best wines from the vintage, especially those that are sourced from his estate vineyard holdings. The reds are tension-packed and structured, with textures reminiscent of elegantly styled Nebbiolo, and I highly encourage readers to check them out.
The 2022 Pinot Noir Abigail's Vineyard, comprising all Calera Clone, is a very pretty wine. Red-toned fruit, cedar, mint, amaro herbs, tea leaves and mint are nicely delineated. The whole clusters are a bit more prominent in this wine, perhaps because of the low-ish sugars here. Nervy contours extend the finish.
