Pale gold. Deeply perfumed, mineral-accented aromas of peach, pear nectar, melon, Meyer lemon and saffron carry a suave floral overtone. Juicy and densely packed, showing sharp delineation and power to the citrus and orchard fruit flavors. Picks up toasty lees, sweet butter and ginger nuances with air. Shows excellent clarity and cut on the strikingly long, penetrating finish, which echoes the mineral and citrus fruit notes and betrays no rough edges. This wine was raised for a year in new and neutral 500- and 350-liter French oak casks.

The 2016 X Novo Chardonnay opens with a savory nose of honey toast, hazelnut and roasted almonds with Greek yogurt, warm lemon and red apple plus saline notes—there are so many earthy and savory layers here! Medium-bodied with a lovely creamy texture, it gives lemon, apple core and savory mushroom notes in the mouth with a wonderful refreshing line of acidity and a streak of crushed rock minerality carrying the epically long finish. 375 cases produced.
