Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2022-2042, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Feb 2021

Composed of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Syrah, 16% Petit Verdot and 10% Malbec, the 2018 Leopard has a deep garnet-purple color and needs a little swirling and coaxing to reveal seductive scents of Black Forest cake, blackcurrant pastilles, boysenberries and black raspberries with suggestions of forest floor, sandalwood, Sichuan pepper and licorice. The full-bodied palate has a serious, age-worthy structure of firm, rounded tannins and bold freshness supporting the generous black fruit layers, finishing long and spicy. Yum! 98 cases were made.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Malbec, the 2018 Leopard Red Blend has a lively, perfumed style offering lots of red and black fruits as well as beautiful floral nuances. Nicely textured on the palate, with medium to full-bodied richness, it has a good spine of acidity and is well-balanced. Enjoy it any time over the coming decade or more.

The 2018 The Leopard is, surprisingly, not one of the more extroverted wines in the lineup. A rush of ripe red berry fruit, spice, licorice, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco give the 2018 striking aromatic lift to play off the intense, jammy red fruit. Ripe and yet medium in body, the 2018 has a lot to offer. Syrah, Petit Verdot and Malbec complement a core of Cabernet Sauvignon so well here.
