Bright, pale yellow. Vibrant aromas of lime, peach, wild herbs and metallic minerality. Distinctly plush, broad and seamless but not at all exotic, with a firm spine of lemon-limey acidity and piquant crushed-stone minerality leavening the wine's fruit sweetness. In fact, this broad, very long grand cru finishes classically dry, with a strong impression of chewy extract.

The 2015 Chablis Grand Cru Blanchot actually has a difficult time following the Butteaux and as I opined when I tasted them from barrel, it feels a bit mean and reticent at the moment. Perhaps it is holding something back for later. The palate is well balanced with a fine thread of acidity, linear and taut in style but I want this to give me something more on the finish. Let’s see how this evolves because at the moment there are a couple of storming premier crus that show more promise.

(this was the first fruit to be harvested in 2015): Aromas of lime blossom, menthol and crushed stone suggest an austere wine. Dense but quite taut in the mouth, offering an exhilarating sweet/salty impression and a silky thickness of texture nicely cut by a penetrating limey quality. This very seamless, long grand cru will be presentable fairly early. Jul 2016, www.vinous.com

Mild if not invisible wood influence frames the restrained, fresh and admirably pure white flower, wet stone and hint of sea breeze-inflected aromas. There is fine richness to the refined and beautifully detailed medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent intensity and length on the citrus-suffused finish where a touch of lemon rind appears.
